Featuring a large, bright 19-inch LCD screen with accurate color reproduction and 4K recording capabilities Atomos Sumo 19-inch HDR monitor/monitor/switchboard with high brightness can be used to enhance professional video workflows in both production and post-processing. On set, Sumo HDR capabilities allow cinematographers to better realize the dynamic range of the cinema camera when shooting in logarithmic or raw format.

All built-in monitoring tools are also compatible with HDR rendering and are updated to match a wider dynamic range. In addition, Sumo can record incoming DCI and UHD 4K video in a variety of Apple ProRes or AVID DNxHR formats to Master Caddy II media. With supported cameras, ProRes Raw/Raw HQ recording is also possible for greater flexibility in post-processing. The AtomOS 9.2 firmware update provides SDI quad-HD switching and five-channel recording, allowing up to four ISO channels to be recorded and switched at resolutions up to 1080p60, as well as program recording. Apple Final Cut XML is also created when using multi-stream recording, making it easier to edit your program when publishing.

Back in the studio, Sumo's HDR capabilities come in handy again; allowing editors and colorists to see the captured image information in greater depth. 10-bit image processing combined with a 10-bit FRC-enabled LCD panel showcases subtle gradations in recorded material, whether it is played back directly from the recording media or a connected computer. The display itself can be calibrated to maintain color accuracy throughout the life of the Sumo.

Functions

Live Switching Quad-HD and 5-channel recording

The AtomOS 9.2 firmware update provides SDI quad-HD switching and five-channel recording, allowing you to record and switch up to four ISO channels in resolutions up to 1080p60, as well as program recording. Apple Final Cut XML is also created when using multi-stream recording, making it easier to edit your program when publishing.

Production quality of assembly

The aluminum alloy chassis features 10 mounting points on the top, bottom and sides, a VESA mount on the rear panel and an included stand for a variety of mounting configurations.

Universal I/O options

Easily connect an SDI or HDMI device and convert between HDMI 2.0 and SDI (Quad 3G/6G/12G) in any combination. Quad SDI inputs connect cameras to multiple 1.5 or 3G-SDI outputs without the need for converters or four separate video inputs for multi-window display or ISO recording up to 1080p. HDMI 2.0 supports input and output up to DCI 4K and UHD, as well as the latest Atomos open protocol that supports HDR automation, including importing camera settings. There's also support for Genlock and LTC timecode.

High-quality recording

Capture outbound raw data streams from Sony FS5, FS7 or FS700, Canon C300 Mark II or C500 or Panasonic VariCam LT via SDI at up to 5.7K at 30p (with compatible cameras) in ProRes Raw/Raw HQ, Cinema DNG , 10-bit Apple ProRes or 10-bit Avid DNxHR. Sumo's processing power preserves pristine quality directly from the camera at data rates up to 3.2 Gbps.

Versatile functionality

Using multiple inputs, you can record and playback up to four live HD video feeds. Using Sumo's XML capabilities, you can switch and mix live recording, and stream or record four HD ISO recordings. Switch between on-screen streams with tags, crossfades and sharp cuts from locked sources, or add tags and make final edits with advanced metadata tags while preserving ISO channels, with endless editable desired results.

Built-in XLR audio

Eliminate the need for a separate audio recorder by using full-size XLR connections to connect and power external microphones, for balanced analog audio with dedicated indicators and frame delay and gain settings. Phantom powered (48V) microphones and line audio are fully synchronized, so there's no need to match them when recording. There is also a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and built-in speakers for instant or playback review on set with clients or production crew.

HDR processing

Sumo's 19-inch, 10-bit 1920 x 1080 resolution LCD panel is driven by the AtomHDR engine, which accurately renders log, PQ or HLG video streams from popular cameras, game consoles or TV manufacturers to resolve 10 stages of HDR in real time. HDR's range of brightness and vivid colors bring scenes to life both on the monitor itself and when output to large HDR/Rec 709 displays for viewing on set. It can also be used with popular editing software or color correction kits for affordable HDR/SDR. editing or grading in the studio.

LCD screen with daylight viewing capability

The bright 1200 cd/m² display means you can accurately monitor SDR signals even when outdoors in bright daylight. If additional light control is required, an optional sun visor can be purchased separately.

X-Rite Calibration

Like many high-end video and computer monitors, the Sumo can be calibrated to compensate for the natural color and brightness drift that monitors exhibit over time. Sumo's calibration input allows you to use X-Rite's separately available i1Display Pro to ensure accurate HDR and REC at all times. 709 monitoring.

Continuous power

Dual 4-pin XLR power inputs mean that Sumo can automatically switch power sources if one of them stops supplying power. In the field, you can use a separate power bracket to power the Sumo from V-Mount or Gold Mount batteries.
