Extremely wide dynamic range
The 8K sensor of the SONY VENICE 2 has an exceptional dynamic range of up to 16 stops, while the 6K sensor has more than 15 stops. This means that both are capable of producing phenomenal images with very low noise in a variety of conditions, whether in blazing sunlight or virtually no light at all. The SONY VENICE 2 6K also supports a wide dynamic range, allowing you to realize your most creative ideas at the color correction stage.
More colors for more expression
The color range of SONY VENICE 2 6K cameras exceeds the capabilities of the BT.2020 color space, while being wider than the DCI-P3 gamut. This means they can capture the realistic hues of the scene in front of the lens. This opens up unique color correction possibilities using Sony's third-generation LOG gamma coding profile (S-Log3) and the ultra-wide S-Gamut3 color space. In addition, the SONY VENICE 2 6K and 8K resolution sensors of SONY VENICE 2 6K cameras deliver near-perfect color reproduction, making color grading even easier.
High frame rate
Using a 6K sensor, the VENICE 2 can shoot at up to 120fps in 4K resolution and up to 90fps in 6K. When combined with the anamorphic license, it can also shoot up to 75fps in 4K 4:3 and up to 72fps in 4K 6:5. When using an 8K sensor, the VENICE 2 supports shooting at up to 60fps in 8.2K resolution and up to 90fps in 5.8K resolution.
Quick shutter
The presence of the "jelly effect" is discouraged. The SONY VENICE 2 6K camera is equipped with a high-speed readout sensor that minimizes the "jelly effect" present when CMOS sensors are used.
Video production just got easier
Recording up to 8K, 16-bit color and very high sensor readout speeds allow cinematographers to focus on the art of shooting in a virtual environment rather than on technical compromises. The flawless synchronization with state-of-the-art Crystal LED controllers is unparalleled in the market. Version 2* firmware improves support for third-party LED displays using external synchronization phase shifting and the ability to display a fixed frequency on an auxiliary display.
* Scheduled for release in early 2023.
Replaceable sensors
The SONY VENICE 2 6K camera allows you to easily remove and replace the original 6K sensor with an 8.6K sensor without tools. This also means that the 6K sensors from the original VENICE cameras can be used with VENICE 2 cameras.
Regular updates
We plan to regularly release system updates for SONY VENICE 2 6K cameras and thus expand their functionality based on feedback from filmmakers.
Two standard ISO parameters
The SONY VENICE 2 6K supports dual ISO base values, i.e. the 8K sensor provides an ISO 3200 base value in addition to the ISO 800 base value, and the 6K sensor supports ISO 500 and ISO 2500 base values. The high ISO 3200 base value is great for shooting in extended dynamic range in low light. Exposure latitude ranges from 6 to 10 steps for 18% grayscale. There are 16 steps in total. At the high ISO 2500 baseline, exposure latitude ranges from 6 to 9 steps for the 18% gray. More than 15 steps are available in total.

Internal memory card recording function in 16-bit X-OCN and 4K ProRes format in a compact package
With the SONY VENICE 2 6K, filmmakers and colorists can now unlock the incredible creative possibilities of 16-bit X-OCN recording without an external recorder. Users are sure to appreciate the sensor's full dynamic range and incredible color reproduction when shooting in 4K ProRes 4444 and 422 HQ formats. With such a compact design and no external recorder, setting up the camera is faster and easier, especially when using stabilizing pendants, steadicams and drones.
Anamorphic lens
With support for anamorphic lenses, the SONY VENICE 2 6K captures incredibly beautiful images. If you use them while shooting in 4:3 and 6:5 aspect ratios at high horizontal clarity, you can get stunning lens flare, bokeh effects, and have an emotional impact on the viewer. The 8K sensor can shoot in 5.8K resolution with a 6:5 aspect ratio, and the 6K sensor can shoot in 4K resolution with both 6:5 and 4:3 aspect ratios.
Universal lens mount assembly
PL Lens Mounting Assembly
The SONY VENICE 2 6K is equipped with an industry standard PL lens mount assembly and is compatible with all Super 35 format lenses and full-frame PL lenses, both spherical and anamorphic. The lens mount assembly is equipped with contacts that support Cooke/i technology, and lens data is recorded frame-by-frame as metadata. We have also added support for ZEISS eXtended Data.
E bayonet with locking lever
The E mount provides compatibility with lenses from Sony. Thanks to the E mount (with locking lever), to replace a lens, you simply turn the locking ring rather than the lens itself. This means that in most cases you don't need to remove the ring and waste valuable time during video production.
VENICE 2 extension system
The CBK-3620XS VENICE 2 extension system guarantees unrivaled shooting flexibility without sacrificing image quality. Designed in conjunction with the SONY VENICE 2 6K, the system provides more bandwidth to support the 8K sensor used in the VENICE 2, a cable set up to 12m (more than twice the standard length) with no intermediate amplifier, additional control buttons and a built-in gyroscope sensor.
The extension system consists of a front panel cover and sensor unit housing with 3 m and 12 m extension cables. The new extension system is fully compatible with the SONY VENICE 2 6K camera that uses 8K or 6K sensors with the latest firmware version. It is also compatible with the original VENICE camera that uses the latest firmware version, however, due to the functions in the camera, some functions of the CBK-3620XS may not be available.
8-stage mechanical ND filters
As with the VENICE camera, an 8-stage servo-controlled mechanical ND filter is built into the body of the SONY VENICE 2 6K. The wide range of levels - from ND0.3 (1/2 = 1 stage) to ND2.4 (1/256 = 8 stages) - reduces the time spent changing external filters. ND filters greatly increase the flexibility of VENICE cameras when remotely operated while shooting from drones and cranes, as well as in an aqua box.
Robust design
The SONY VENICE 2 6K camera body is incredibly rugged and has been rigorously tested in the toughest conditions, and the main frame construction makes the device even more reliable. The ventilation system is completely isolated from all electronic components, preventing dust, sand and splashes from entering. The silent fan can be quickly and easily cleaned and replaced on set.
Intuitive and easy operation on site
On either side of the SONY VENICE 2 6K camera are control displays with a layout similar to that of the original VENICE cameras. A 3-inch LCD screen provides the assistant with quick access to settings during shooting. On the other side is a mini OLED panel for the camera operator, which provides intuitive control of frequently used functions such as ND filter, shutter, frame rate, white balance and exposure index.
Based on user feedback, the menu interface has been improved for even more convenient operation on set. The location and type of many VENICE 2 connectors have also changed. For example, the Lemo (12V) output and Ethernet connector are now located on the assistant operator's side.
Camera Menu Simulator
Camera Simulator for Sony's VENICE 2 is an interactive camera training tool that introduces the CineAlta interface with all the menus.

Scaling for easy monitoring
Video recorded in full-frame 3:2 format is output with black bars superimposed on the sides of the monitor. The zoom function allows the VENICE 2 to record in full-frame 3:2 while simultaneously displaying the image on a 17:9/16:9 monitor. This allows directors, cinematographers and crew members to control the video shooting process more effectively with a wider image on the monitor.
* The zoom function for anamorphic lenses is scheduled to be released in version 2 in early 2023.
High performance, proven recording formats
VENICE 2 cameras offer complete production flexibility. The camera supports recording to an internal AXS memory card in X-OCN or 4K ProRes formats, eliminating the need to connect additional recording equipment.
16-bit X-OCN format (eXtended tonal range Original Camera Negative)
Full-frame 4K, 6K and 8K formats with extremely accurate color reproduction perfectly match Sony's third-generation color space, S-Gamut 3. In particular, 16-bit linear luminance grading preserves the full dynamic range of the camera, providing far more possibilities for visual expression than 10- and 12-bit digital formats.
The 16-bit X-OCN format provides a significant reduction in file size, making the transfer and storage of high-resolution content from the 8.6K or 6K sensors of the VENICE 2 much more practical.
Apple ProRes 4K
Apple ProRes formats, including ProRes 4444 and Apple 4K ProRes 422 HQ, are popular post-production formats. The VENICE 2 camera also supports the Apple ProRes 4K format. This means that transcoding is no longer necessary and you can work with material in these 4K ProRes formats directly from the camera.
Technicolor Style Collection
With the VENICE Camera Styles Collection, you can now take full advantage of Technicolor colorists' skill and experience when working with your VENICE camera. LUT files (conversion tables) can be downloaded for free and used for on-set viewing and post-production. Also included are Sony's new .ART files, which offer improved performance over 3D LUT files.
Powerful tools for color management and working on set
RAW Viewer is a free color correction and transcoding software compatible with third-party color correction tools and non-linear editing systems.
* 8K support will be available in February 2022.
4K LUT tables for monitors
For those who want to see an image on set that is closer to the final look of the project, we have added support for 4K or HD LUT output to the monitor output on the VENICE 2. The HD output also allows the use of enhanced LUT processing, which provides richer images and color gradation.
Color management with RM/RCP units
The VENICE 2 is controlled by an RM/RCP panel to which broadcast camcorders and system cameras can be connected. Once connected, you can select the ITU-R Rec. 2020 and HLG color space and adjust the color reproduction parameters.
Control via Ethernet and Wi-Fi
With Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity, LUT, CDL and ART files can be imported directly into cameras, so there is no need to download them using SD cards. You can manage and customize CDL files via the web interface and then embed them in clip metadata.
